Maple School Students Get Getty With It

Students from Maple School are taking part in the Getty Museum Virtual Challenge by imitating classic art from their homes.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Students from Northbrook's Maple School have been showing their affinity for classic works of art by taking part in the Getty Museum Virtual Challenge. The Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 students were challenged by art teacher Dawn Nettlehorst to find a famous piece of art and imitate the work by using things from home. Based on the response, it appears the kids were more than up for the assignment.

"[I also] asked the students to include a paragraph about the artwork," Nettlehorst said. "We have some really creative kids!"

The J. Paul Getty Museum, located in Los Angeles, issued the playful challenge at the end of March on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. According to the museum, "thousands and thousands" of people have entered.
