Maple Syrup Festival Marks Start Of Spring At Northbrook Nature Center
The annual event has been held for more than 50 years at River Trail Nature Center, according to organizers.

NORTHBROOK, IL — It's a sure sign of spring when the annual Maple Syrup Festival occurs at Northbrook's River Trail Nature Center. This year's event was held on Sunday and brought hundreds of people, according to organizers.
Visitors sampled pure maple syrup, joined tree tapping walks, stopped in the Sugar Shack to watch the sap evaporation process, and listened as staff and volunteers explained the history of maple syrup making. Organizers said there were also Irish dance performances, a touch-a-truck event, a musical instrument “petting zoo,” and native gardening at 3120 Milwaukee Ave.
River Trail Nature Center is one of six nature centers operated by the Forest Preserves of Cook County, and offers a variety of educational events and festivals throughout the year. Learn more at fpdcc.com.
