Maple's Science Team Places 2nd in Region at Argonne Science Bowl

Maple School's Science Team team took second place school in the State/Region and took third and fourth places overall.

Maple School's amazing Science Team and Eighth-Grade Science Teacher and Coach Robin Dombeck achieved great success at the virtual Argonne National Laboratory's Science Bowl Competition that was held on Saturday, January 26.

Ms. Dombeck reported that there were 16 teams at the regional event, which includes the State of Illinois and nearby areas. There were no teams from Indiana or Wisconsin this year.

"We made it to the 'Final 4' in an all-day virtual event. We met as a team at Maple and Zoomed from the study rooms in the library, and ate lunch in the Cafetorium. We were the second-place school in our State/Region, and took third and fourth places overall!" stated Ms. Dombeck.

She noted that she was especially proud of how the students from all grade levels worked so well together and worked as a team while sharing knowledge.

"The kids practiced regularly after school and took pride in their work. They really learned how to be 'in the moment!'" added Dombeck.
