Mom Accused of Accidentally Leaving 13-Month-Old in Hot Vehicle While at the Store: Cops
The Highland Park woman was charged with child endangerment after she left her child for 45 minutes in 80- to 90-degree heat Sunday.

NORTHBROOK, IL — A Highland Park mother was arrested Sunday after she was accused of accidentally leaving her 13-month-old child in a locked vehicle for about 45 minutes while she ran into a store and outdoor temperatures hovered between the 80s and 90s, according to Northbrook police.
Allyson F. Poll, 40, of the 200 block of Lincolnwood Drive, was charged with endangering the life of a child. She was released on $1,500 bail, and her court date is Aug. 11.
Poll called 911 for an ambulance Sunday, July 24, after she left a store in the 2700 block of Dundee Road and returned to her vehicle to hear her child crying, according to the police report. The average temperature for that day was around 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature was about 93 degrees, and it was recorded at around 1:50 p.m.

Police took Poll into custody and charged her later in the day. The police report did not indicate if the child was hurt or taken to the hospital.
