Nekritz Passed Over For State Auditor Job
Panel of lawmakers selects a downstate representative to replace Bill Holland.
State Rep. Elaine Nekritz, D-Northbrook had hoped to be tabbed as the state’s next Auditor General, but a state panel of lawmakers has selected Rep. Frank Mautino, of downstate Spring Valley, for the job.
The Daily Herald reports Nekritz had been a finalist to replace longtime top auditor Bill Holland, who will retire at the end of the year after decades in the position.
If selected, Nekritz’ plan included moving downstate and upending “her suburban life,” according to the Daily Herald.
