New Health Club Opens at Bernard Weinger JCC

The Marvin Lustbader Center includes an indoor pool, free wights, rowing machines and a shvitz.

NORTHBROOK, IL - There’s a new, modernized health club at the Bernard Weinger JCC in Northbrook for Jewish residents of the North Shore to help make good on a New Year’s resolution.

A 13,000-square-foot club that includes 50 exercise machines, free weights, rowing machines, a dance/Pilates room and indoor pool opened on Dec. 10 at 300 Revere Drive, according to a Northbrook Star feature on the new facility.

The Marvin Lustbader Center, the result of a $6.5 million project, has been popular among users thus far. It will eventually have Jewish art on the walls and already boasts a shvitz.

"I'm a steam guy. Without the shvitz, I'm not here," Barry Levin of Deerfield told the Star.

The new facility replaced a 1,500-square-foot fitness spot that closed for months in order to make room for the new one.
