New June Exhibit by Sandy Sheagren Opens at NSYMCA Community Gallery
Sheagren's work is for sale and a portion of proceeds go back to the NSYMCA.

Northbrook, IL: June 2023 – North Suburban YMCA’s Community Gallery is showcasing local artist Sandy Sheagren throughout the month of June. All of the work featured will be for sale with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Visual Arts department of the NSYMCA.
Artist Sandy Sheagren’s work has a special interest in portraiture and the figure where at a young age developed a fascination for anatomy and the human body from the works of Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci. After making a career in nursing and having studies of medical illustration, this gave her a knowledge base of the human form.
“I am particularly interested in how posture, body language, and color contribute to establishing a mood or feeling,” exclaims Sheagren. “Whether I capture the mood of the subject or my own mood, I want to validate the range of human emotions and how our bodies give messages about where our feelings lie. Rather than paint photorealism, I am more interested in creating a mood and touching an emotion in the viewer.”
