"We wanted to offer this workshop as an opportunity for participants to learn practical self-defense techniques, increase their situational awareness, and build confidence," said Kelly Rao, the North Suburban YMCA’s Sports & Gymnastics Director. "Our hope at the Y is that everyone leaves feeling more empowered, prepared, and capable."

The workshop is open to teens and adults ages 14 and older. Parents are encouraged to participate alongside their teen, creating a unique opportunity to learn valuable safety skills together. This is also a great option for students before they leave for college, helping them feel prepared to live away from home.
