North Suburban YMCA Offers Mini Movers Nutcracker Dance Workshop for Young Dancers
Six-week workshop introduces children ages 3–5 to the magic of dance and culminates in a special performance for family and friends.
Northbrook, IL — October 2026 — The North Suburban YMCA (NSYMCA) invites its youngest dancers to experience the magic of the holiday season through its Mini Movers: Nutcracker Workshop, a six-week dance program designed for children ages 3–5 years old.
Held Mondays from 4:30–5:30 p.m., November 2 through November 30, with a showcase on Sunday, December 6th.The workshop will introduce young dancers to a short dance inspired by the beloved holiday classic The Nutcracker. Participants will spend five weeks learning and practicing their choreography before performing live for family and friends in a special Mini Movers Mini Showcase during the sixth and final week.
“This workshop is a wonderful way for our youngest dancers to build confidence, explore their creativity, and experience the excitement of performing in front of an audience,” said Val Lober, Director of Performing Arts at the North Suburban YMCA. “We want children to have fun, develop new skills, and discover the joy of dance while sharing a special performance with their family and friends. It’s a magical introduction to the performing arts!”

The Mini Movers: Nutcracker Workshop is ideal for children who already enjoy the NSYMCA’s dance programs and are ready for an extra opportunity to learn and perform, as well as those interested in trying dance for the first time.
The workshop fee includes a Mini Movers T-shirt, five weeks of instruction, a performance during the sixth week, and general admission for friends and family to attend the Mini Movers Showcase. Participants must be able to attend all six weeks.
