North Suburban YMCA Welcomes the Wayne Messmer Quartet on September 16
Adult evening of entertainment includes music, dancing, and an auction

The North Suburban YMCA will host a “Live on the Lawn” fundraiser featuring the Wayne Messmer Quartet on Friday, September 16, from 6 – 8 pm. The evening of music and dancing includes pianist Bobby Schiff, bassist Scott Mason, trumpeter Dave Katz, and Messmer on vocals.
As an iconic Chicago entertainer, Messmer is known for his musical and speaking engagements, and as one of the most recognizable singers of the national anthem. During his multi-decade career, Messmer has brought his powerful singing talents to the World Series, hockey and football games, concert stages, jazz clubs, and recording studios.
The “Live on the Lawn” evening is coordinated by the NSYMCA’s Pool Pals, a group of Y swimmers dedicated to supporting the Y and its community. “We wanted to do something to contribute to funding new life vests, swim boards, and other aquatic instructional aides,” said Sarah Beyne, Y member and Pool Pal. “We were fortunate that Christine Kreiseder, Kathie Messmer, and her husband Wayne generously stepped up to help create this event.”

“We’re grateful that the Messmers and the Y Pool Pals are so committed to furthering the cause of the NSYMCA,” stated Kathy Fielding, NSYMCA CEO, adding that Messmer is donating his time and talents to create the evening’s performance.
Pool Pal and event organizer Carole Jassen suggested that participants attending the Messmer performance, “Bring a chair and a picnic to help support the Y.” In the event of rain, the performance will be held in the Y’s gym. Beer, wine, soda, water, and snacks will be available for purchase at the event; no outside alcohol is allowed.
