Northbrook Could Enact Ordinance Lowering Volume of Ice Cream Trucks

Several complaints over last two years have trustees seeking action.

Several complaints over the last two years about the volume of ice cream trucks in Northbrook have village trustees there seeking to create a noise ordinance aimed at forcing them to lower the volume.

“In Northbrook, officials said, the complaints are mainly that the music is just annoyingly loud.” - according to a report in the Evanston Review.

An Evanston police official followed up by pointing out zero similar complaints have made made in Evanston in years.

If an ordinance is enacted and truck drivers are found to have played the music at higher decibels, fines of anywhere from $25 to $750 could be issued.
