Northbrook Couple Sentenced for Toy Theft Scheme
Branko and Lela Bogdanov were sentenced this week for their role in a nationwide spree that occurred over several years.

NORTHBROOK, IL - The Northbrook couple accused of a nationwide theft spree that took place over several years has been sentenced to prison time.
A judge this week handed down a four-year sentence to 60-year-old Branko Bogdanov and a three-year punishment to his wife, 55-year-old Lela - the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The two were previously implicated in a crime spree that mainly consisted of stealing toys from stores in several different states.
The scheme netted as much as $9.5 million and included thefts from big name vendors like Toys R Us in Louisiana, Tennessee, Maryland, Florida, Oklahoma and Texas. Furbys, legos and American Girl dolls were among the items lifted the most.

The couple was found with more than $74,000 of stolen merchandise in their Northbrook home when they were arrested in 2014. The couple’s daughter, Julia, has already been sentenced to a 15-month stint in prison for her role.
