Northbrook Crime: No-License Drivers On Railroad, Without Lights, Or Drunk

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of police activity. Criminal charges, which can be dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations by the state. Everyone is presumed innocent unless and until their guilt is established by a court of law.
DRIVING UNDER A CLOSING RAILROAD GATE IN AN UNINSURED VEHICLE WITH AN EXPIRED REGISTRATION AND A SUSPENDED LICENSE
Marcell R. Nelson, 52, of the 1100 block of North Highpoint Boulevard in Waukegan, was pulled over April 19 at 6:38 a.m. after police saw him drive under activated railroad crossing gates. When police ran his license, they found it to be suspended. Nelson was placed under arrest, processed and released on bond.

NO LIGHTS, NO LICENSE, NO INSURANCE
Robert A. Groh Jr., 20, of the 3000 block of Palm Lane in Northbrook, was pulled over on April 17 shortly after 2:00 a.m. on the 400 block of Skokie Highway after he was seen driving with no lights. Northbrook police checked his license and found it suspended. He was arrested, processed and released after posting bond.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL
Eduardo Gonzales Carillo, 63, of the 700 block of Piper Lane in Prospect Heights, was arrested April 15 at 11 p.m. and charged with DUI alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving without a license or insurance and cited for improper lane used. Northbrook police said an officer saw Carillo driving westbound on Willow Road from Landwehr Road when he committed several traffic violations and the officer pulled him over. After speaking to the Carillo, officers believed he was under the influence, arrested, processed and released him after he posted bond.
SUSPICIOUS TELEPHONE CALL
On April 14 at 1:40 p.m. police received a report from a resident of the 1100 block of Whitfield Road of a potential scam phone call from an out of state phone number. The caller had immediately asked, "Can you hear me?" before inquiring as to whether the potential victim had a computer. The resident told police he had heard about scam calls of a similar nature.
