After Crash, Both Drivers Arrested: Northbrook Crime Reports

Northbrook Police Blotter: June 16 - June 22

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and a list of those arrested. All persons named are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A patron of Sportsman Country Club in the 3500 block of Dundee Road reported at 8:20 p.m. on June 15 that between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. that day, someone had entered his 2016 Chevrolet and stole a small amount of loose change and a firearm that was in the center console. Officers could not locate any signs of force to the vehicle but the victim reported that he locked his auto.

A caller on the the 900 block of Red Haw reported on June 15 at 9:50 p.m. that he observed damage to his 1999 Ford and believed that someone may have attempted to enter his vehicle. Police found several pry marks and scratches on the front driver side door and front passenger side door, but the vehicle had not been opened and no items were missing.

THEFT

A resident of the 4300 block of Yorkshire Lane reported on the morning of June 18 that his blue paddleboat had gone missing from the shoreline of the lake in Wood Oaks Park which backs up to his rear yard. The resident reported the paddleboat, valued at about $500, could have been missing for up to two weeks since the last time he saw it.

TRESPASS TO PROPERTY

Security at Underwriter's Lab on the 300 block of Pfingsten Road contacted police at 3:48 p.m. on June 19 to report a suspicious older model pickup truck that had entered their property and removed scrap metal from a dumpster. The truck was seen on camera heading eastbound onto Dundee Road.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

A patron of the North Suburban YMCA on the 2700 block of Techny Road reported on June 20 that someone scratched their Jeep while it had been parked in the parking lot.

TRESPASS TO VEHICLE

A caller on the 2300 block of Greenwood reported that someone entered their locked 2014 Honda and rummaged through the center console between 11 p.m. on June 20 and 10 a.m. on June 21. The caller said the items from inside the center console had been thrown onto the passenger side floor of the vehicle, but nothing appeared to be missing.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A resident of the 2500 block of Kingston reported on the morning of June 21 that sometime between 8 p.m. the previous night and 9 a.m. that morning someone had entered his 2014 Chrysler and removed gift cards and other miscellaneous items. The items were later found scattered about the road a few blocks away from the caller's home.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

A caller reported on June 21 that the rear license plates had been removed from a 2006 Ford that had been parked overnight in a lot on the 1800 block of Techny Court.

ARRESTS

DUI / SUSPENDED LICENSE

Two people were arrested on June 17 after Northbrook police responded to a three-car crash near Skokie Highway and Dundee Road. While investigating the cause of the crash, cops determined that one of the drivers appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and placed him under arrest. Police also learned another driver involved in the crash had a revoked out of state driver’s license and never obtained an Illinois driver’s license. Both were placed under arrest, processed and released after posting bond.

Juan C. Gonzalez-Aguilar (Northbrook PD)

Juan C. Gonzalez-Aguilar, 24, of the 2900 block of 20th Street in North Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence and cited for a lack of insurance and an improper turn.

Bruno Gomez, 55, of the 1300 block of Lorraine Place in Waukegan, was arrested for driving with a revoked license and never getting an Illinois license.

WARRANT ARREST

Shawn E. McDermott, 29 of the 2600 block of North Midlothian Road in Mundelein, was arrested at 11:19 p.m. on June 19 in the 1800 block of Smith Road on a bond forfeiture warrant originating from the Schaumberg Police Department related to possession of narcotics equipment. He was an occupant of a vehicle that had been stopped by officers. Police determined he had a warrant after checking the vehicle. Police did not immediately disclose the justification for their search.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

A 21-year-old Bloomington man was arrested June 16 at 5:05 p.m. after police said he ran a stop sign. He was pulled over, and officers determined his license had been suspended. He was arrested, processed and released on bond.
