Northbrook Crime: Two Break-Ins In YMCA Parking Lot
Northbrook crime reports: March 3-March 9

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department. It is a record of police activity. Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced and all defendants are innocent until their guilt is established by a court.
BURGLARY
March 8 at 7:26 p.m. at the YMCA on the 2700 block of Techny Road, a victim reported that offenders broke the from passenger window of her 2009 Nissan. The offenders removed a tote bag containing a notebook, makeup and a lunch bag from the vehicle. The victim reported that the vehicle was parked in the lot between 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

March 8 at 8:11 p.m. at the YMCA on the 2700 block Techny Road, a victim reported that offenders broke the rear passenger window of her 2007 Honda. The offenders removed her Fossil purse. The purse contained her cell phone, a wallet containing $100.00 and various credit cards. The vehicle was parked in the lot between 6:55 p.m. and 8:10 p.m.
RETAIL THEFT

Shortly after 12:30 p.m. on March 5, Ginger Lee, 40, of the 2700 block of West 111th Street in Chicago, was observed by security at the Neiman Marcus store on the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road placing two items of merchandise into her purse. She then exited the store without paying for the merchandise that she placed in her purse. She was stopped by security outside and placed under arrest.
On March 5, a security guard at the Saks Off 5th in the 100 block of Skokie Highway reported earlier that day a black man in his 40's, roughly six feet tall and 160 pounds, with a thin build, wearing a dark jacket and dark pants entered the store and placed clothing into a cart. The man then left the store with the roughly $1150 worth of merchandise without paying. He was seen putting the merchandise into the trunk of a black car before exiting the parking lot.
DUI
On March 3, around 8:30 p.m. on the 1600 block of Dundee, police pulled over Corey Griffin, 42, of the 700 block of North Drake in Chicago. They believed he was under the influence and put him under arrest for DUI, lack of insurance and improper lane use. He surrendered his license and posted bond.
SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
A 22-year-old Northbrook man was arrested and made to post a cash bond for having suspended vehicle registration after being pulled over March 7 at 6:34 p.m. at Dundee and Huehl.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 31-year-old Chicago man was arrested for driving with a suspended license, lack of insurance and failure to signal. He was released on a personal recognizance bond after being pulled over at Willow and Landwehr.
A 43-year-old Arlington Heights man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and improper lane usage after being pulled over at Waukegan and Founders.
A 50-year-old Lansing man was arrested for driving with a suspended license March 3 shortly after 1:30 a.m. after being pulled over at Dundee and Bach.
DRUG POSSESSION
Shortly after 2:00 a.m. on March 5, Northbrook police pulled over a car for lack of a brake light. Police said they smelled marijuana, searched the vehicle and found a glass jar with an ounce of cannabis inside. They issued the 19-year-old Park City man who was driving the car with several tickets and released him.
THEFT
On March 2, shortly after 11:00 p.m. a victim on the 2600 block of Shannon said a UPS delivery had been stolen from their front porch sometime March 1 or March 2.
SUPPLEMENT TO ROBBERY
March 3, a 19-year-old Kenosha man was arrested March 3 in Kenosha on a Northbrook warrant for a Dec. 19 robbery which occurred at 910 Skokie Highway.
