Northbrook Crime: Well-dressed Pickpocket At Deli, Forgery At Bank, Battery At Restaurant
Northbrook police reports: Feb. 24-March 2

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department. Criminal charges can be dropped or reduced and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in court.
THEFT
Feb. 23, at the Highland Bakery on the 2300 block of Shermer Road a man reported that an offender damaged the lock on his locker and stole his wallet. The wallet contained $190.00, a bank card along with various forms of identification. The theft occurred while the victim was working between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m..

FINANCIAL CRIME ARREST
Robert Gary, 60, of the 200 block of 200 block Skokie Boulevard in Northbrook was charged with felony theft after opening an account in the name of a victim who had given him checks with the intention of him opening of an account for them.

THEFT OF WALLET
On Feb. 25 around noon, a victim reported that she had her wallet when she went to Trader Joe’s at 127 Skokie Boulevard. While at the deli, man described as white, in his 40's, 6'0'', with dark hair and wearing a suit started talking to her about a food item. The victim believes that the subject distracted her and removed her wallet from her purse which was in her shopping cart. The victim reported that several purchases were made on her credit cards.
DUI
On Feb. 26 around 1:30 a.m., a 61-year-old woman of the 100 block of Aberdeen Drive in East Dundee was arrested for driving under the influence and traffic offenses. Police observed the defendant’s vehicle commit several traffic violations and stopped it. After speaking to the defendant officers determined that she was under the influence and placed her under arrest. She was processed and released after posting bond.
ACTIVE WARRANT
On Feb. 25 around 11:00 p.m. a 35-year-old man of the 3100 block of Hill Lane in Wilmette was arrested after being observed walking around the Steve Foley Cadillac dealership after hours on the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard. Police found him to have a warrant for failure to appear.
THEFT
On Feb. 27 around 8:30 a.m. a victim at Glenbrook North High School reported that his black wallet was taken from his unlocked gym locker. The wallet contained $100, identification and a gift card.
BATTERY
On Feb. 27 shortly before 11:00 a.m. a 43-year-old woman of the 3900 block of Ellis Avenue in Gurnee was arrested for battery on the 2700 block of Dundee Road after a victim reported she was sitting in the restaurant when the Gurnee woman sat down at her table. The 43-year-old made some accusations towards the victim then allegedly slapped her across the face, the woman later surrendered herself at the police station and was processed.
FORGERY
After an arrest Feb. 27 around 2:00 p.m., Bilguun Tumurbaatar, 25, of Mount Prospect, was charged with felony forgery. Officers responded to the Glenview State Bank on the 1700 block of Shermer Road for a report of a person attempting to cash a fraudulent check. Upon arrival bank officials pointed out the offender and he was placed under arrest. Officers contacted the account holder who reported he hadn’t written the check nor did he know the offender. Another man, Jefferson Gonzalez, 32, of Chicago, was a passenger in the defendant’s vehicle and officers determined he was wanted by Glenview PD on an outstanding warrant for forgery. Gonzalez was turned over to Glenview PD.
UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON
On Feb. 28 around midnight, Michael Oscar, 26, of Chicago, was pulled over for a traffic violation in the 2800 block of Dundee Road. Police observed a gun on the passenger’s seat of the vehicle when they walked up to the vehicle. Oscar was placed under arrest, processed and released on bond.
DUI
On Feb. 28 at 1:15 a.m., Michael Darnell, 30, of Chicago, was charged with improper lane usage, DUI over .08, DUI Alcohol, Speeding and no insurance. Police observed Darnell's vehicle commit a traffic violation and stopped it. After speaking to him, the officer believed he was under the influence and placed him under arrest. He was processed and released after posting bond.
