Northbrook Farmer's Market Discourages Plastic Bags
Incentive offered to those who come in with reusable ones.

The Northbrook Farmer’s Market is discouraging the use of plastic bags beginning this year by providing incentives for those who come in with their own reusable bags.
Every week a patron comes by with a reusable bag, they will get a punch on a new card, and 10 punches means a reward of $7 credit they can use at any vendor, according to the Northbrook Star.
“Go Green (Northbrook) asked us to find some way to cut down on the use of plastic bags, and we scratched our heads and came up with this,” said Dale Duda, manager of the market. “It’s basically a small thing to help save the environment. That’s part of the farmers market mission.”

Ban on Plastic Bags Begins in Evanston This August
Vendors will still offer plastic bags, but are being asked to encourage customers to bring their own.
The cost of the incentive will be taken care of through a mix of the market’s coffers and the three major cash sponsors: NorthShore University Health System, Advanced Disposal and Premier Credit Union.
The market kicked off on June 17 and will run on Wednesday for 18 weeks through October 14.
