Northbrook Hockey Team Raises Nearly $2.5K For American Cancer Society
The Glenbrook North ice hockey team were recently out raising money for the school's Relay for Life program.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Like it did last year, the Glenbrook North Hockey Club team decided it wanted to make a difference by raising money for the American Cancer Society. Through the Glenbrook North's Relay for Life program, the players, camped out in front of Northbrook grocery stores like Jewel-Osco and Mariano's to raise nearly $2,500.
"Having the opportunity to raise money for such a good cause is something that our team takes serious pride in," GBN Hockey Club Green Captain Owen Just told Patch. "We hope that by donating our time and raising awareness for this charity, we can play a role in finding a cure."
Just, a forward on the team, mentioned that the reason players chose the American Cancer Society is because "every single family has been touched by cancer in some way, no matter how big or small." He's hoping the team's effort can contribute to the non-profit's efforts to find a cure for cancer.

"Being able to spend time together outside of the rink and come together for a meaningful cause has made us much closer as a team," Just said. "Our continued efforts to help raise money and bring awareness to Relay for Life throughout the year is a much bigger battle than anything we’ll come across on the ice."
