Northbrook Junior High Graduates Recognized For Citizenship

Students were nominated by their teachers based on character qualities of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship and service.

NORTHBROOK, IL — One of the highest honors awarded to young people in this country by the American Legion is the student citizenship award.

According to Northbrook District 28, Northbrook Junior High students Meng Sun, Grace Paulissian, and Mark Gelfand each received the Distinguished Achievement Citizenship Award. Jillian Lefteroff and Lucian Gutfraynd received Honorable Mention. The awards were announced at the school's May 29 graduation ceremony.

In all, 16 students were nominated by their teachers based on the character qualities of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship and service.

In addition to the winners, 11 students were recognized for being nominated: Levi Agran, Bryce Bavier, Ryan Cederlund, Anabelle Kettelhut, Annie Leverenz, Julia Loewy, Jzak McGough, Sasha Ship, June Wiemer, Andrew Wetter and Janessa Wu.
