Northbrook Man Arrested for Unlawful Use of Weapon: Police

Car dealership informed credit card used for large sale was bogus.

The following obituary was submitted by the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON

John Raymond, 24, 4105 Terri Lyn was arrested on UUW charges (one Class 3 Felony and one Class A Misdemeanor) at his residence at 10:14 a.m. on December 26. The complainant requested police take custody of a weapon belonging to the defendant, a relative that was staying at the complainant’s residence. Officers located a rifle and several forms of ammunition in the residence. Officers also located additional ammunition in the defendant’s vehicle.

BURGLARY

A victim told police at 2:46 p.m. on December 28 that family had just returned from out of town to find a window to their residence in the 1500 block of Sycamore Ln. opened and the screen pushed up. Jewelry was found to be stolen. Detectives are investigating.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Zachary A. Sostock, 25, 1039 Marshall Rd. was charged with disorderly conduct at 4:32 p.m. on December 28 after a complainant reported that the defendant had the lights from his pick-up truck shining into his residence. There is a current court order prohibiting the defendant from positioning his truck in a manner to direct the vehicles headlights into the complainant’s residence. The officer arrived and observed the defendant’s vehicles headlights shining towards complainant’s residence. The defendant immediately turned the headlights off after he observed the squad car arrive. The officer issued a local ordinance citation to the defendant for disorderly conduct for violating the court order.

RETAIL THEFT

Katina K. Vasiliadhi, 61, Palatine Township was arrested on a charge of retail theft at 5:39 p.m. on December 28 in the 100 block of Skokie Highway.

The complainant, a loss prevention agent for the store, related he observed the defendant removing the sales tags from two shirts and a hat then placing the merchandise in her purse. She was detained by the complainant after attempting to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. Officers transported her to the police department where she was processed and released on bond.

UNLAWFUL USE OF A CREDIT CARD

A dealership in the 100 block of Skokie Highway related at 9:33 a.m. on December 29 they were notified by a credit card company that a purchase for parts in the amount of $1,704.72, was conducted using a fraudulent credit card. The vehicle parts were picked up shortly after the transaction, but the dealership was not notified until later that the credit card information was bogus.

THEFT

A victim related at 11:08 a.m. December 29 in the 2300 block of Shermer Rd. that he was using the workout room and left his cell phone along with some clothing unattended in the room. When he returned he discovered the iphone 6 valued at $300 missing from a pants pocket.

FRAUD

A complainant related on December 31 in the 1800 block of Happ Rd. he received a check for $1,755 to put advertising on his car for Red Bull. The sender requested the complainant deposit check and send back $1,000. The complainant did as instructed and deposited the check. Later the complainant was notified by the bank that the check was fraudulent.

DRIVING WHILE SUSPENDED

Jacek Szczesny, Bloomingdale was arrested at 2:32 p.m. on December 31 for driving with a suspended license after being stopped at Dunee Rd. and Hawthorne for a moving violation. The defendant was also charged with expired registration and illegal use of an electronic communication device.

THEFT OF LOST/MISLAID PROPERTY

A victim left his Ipad2 and day planner which contained checks, on a table near the main entrance in the 2100 block of Founders at 7 p.m. on December 30. When the victim discovered that he had left the items at the location he returned but discovered that only the day planner was recovered.

SUSPENDED DRIVER’S LICENSE

Joseph D. Kyles, 21, 1147 E. 101st was charged with driving while driver’s license suspended at 11:44 p.m. on December 31 at Willow and Waukegan roads. The defendant’s vehicle was stopped for a tail light violation. Officers learned that the defendant’s Illinois driver’s license was suspended. He was placed under arrest, processed and released after posting bond.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A victim reported on January 1 in the 2000 block of Valencia Dr. that offenders had cut the motorcycle cover on his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle.
