Northbrook Obituary: Edmund J. Zarek, 90

He was a Marine veteran serving in the South Pacific in WWII.

Edmund J. Zarek, (AIA), 90, of Northbrook, formerly of Deerfield, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2015. Dear husband of 66 years to Alice, nee Depke, loving father of John (Carol) of Seattle, Mary (William) Stover of Chicago, Peggy Oddo of Prospect Heights, Anne (Paul) Douglas of Riverwoods, and Edmund (Casandra) of Lake Forest. Adored grandfather (Poppy) of Paul, Julie, Stephanie, Anthony, Monica, David, Thomas, Christopher, Jessica, Lauren, Alexandra, and Haley. Proud great-grandfather of Ella, John, Mena, Taylor, Parker, and Tavi Grace.

Edmund was born in Chicago on April 15, 1924 to Edmund and Theodora (Palubicki). He was a Marine veteran serving in the South Pacific in WWII. He attended Bradley University and received his architectural degree from Kansas State University. He was a registered architect for over 50 years and most recently was an adjunct teacher at Oakton Community College. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Church, 950 Everett Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045 from 9:00 am until time of funeral mass 10:00 am. Internment will be private. Please omit flowers. Contributions to St. Patrick’s Church would be appreciated.
