A service will take place this summer at St. James the Less in Northfield.

The following obituary was submitted to Patch.
Elizabeth Porter Bowman, 78, of Northbrook, Illinois died peacefully January 9, 2015, surrounded by her children. Betsy was an elementary school teacher and later a tutor, but her passion and focus was being a dedicated and involved mother and grandmother. Her family and friends were most important to her and will miss her dearly. She was a woman of loyalty, integrity, opinion, curiosity and intelligence. A lifelong fan of the Cubs, Blackhawks and Bears (except Jay Cutler), she also enjoyed playing tennis and golf.
Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Bob Porter (aka Magi and Hoho) and is survived by daughter Susan Flom (Craig) of Edina, MN, sons Bill (Cathy) of Darien, CT and Peter (Laura) of Mill Valley, CA, and adored grandchildren Emily, Ben, Peter, Porter, Eliza, Lily and Chloe, and beloved siblings Ty (Lee), Pam (Bill), and Bill.
