Northbrook Park District recently took down the construction fencing surrounding the playground area at Greenfield Park, 2950 Harbor Lane, and the playground is open for play! The playground includes two structures, one for ages 2-5 and one for ages 5-12, and a bank of swings. In addition, ADA improvements were made to the sidewalk within the park site to increase access between amenities and create a more accessible property. A new drinking fountain that includes a water bottle filler and a dog bowl has also been added.
Installation of new fencing along Harbor Lane will take place this summer as well. The fence will not surround the entire park, but will provide a new safety barrier between the playground and Harbor Lane. To make this new safety amenity possible, declining shrubs were removed to improve visibility in the park and allow for placement of the new fence.

Construction to begin in early spring 2024 for Greenfield Park improvements.
Northbrook Park District is excited to announce the start of the park renovation project at Greenfield Park, 2950 Harbor Lane. The Park District has been awarded a $250,000 Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) grant from the State of Illinois to partially fund this project and we look forward to bringing new and improved amenities to this neighborhood!
To gather community input for Greenfield Park, two surveys were distributed to neighbors in 2023 to gather general feedback and to vote on playground designs. A drawing of the winning playground as selected by the neighborhood is on the back of this letter. New park amenities include:
While the exact start date of the project is dependent upon weather conditions, construction is expected to begin in spring 2024 with completion by early fall 2024.
During the renovation timeline, the park is a construction zone that will be fenced off and unavailable to the public.

The Northbrook Park District continues the planning process for renovations in 2024 at Greenfield Park, 2950 Harbor Lane. This playground was installed in 2003 and is reaching the end of its life cycle.
With community input, the District completed and adopted a ten-year Comprehensive Master Plan which includes an annual Capital Improvement Plan. These documents forecast repair and replacement needs for parks, facilities and equipment each year.
Currently, this 4.9 acre park offers T-ball fields, a softball field, a half basketball court, open space and a playground. This project currently includes the removal and replacement of the playground equipment, the installation of ADA access to the basketball court and seating area and renovations to the basketball court.
A preliminary survey conducted in March 2023 indicated the following:
Based on this feedback, the Park Board of Commissioners has approved two possible playground designs. Input was gathered from the community in the month of July 2023 to help select the final playground equipment and asphalt games for Greenfield Park. The following playground was selected after receiving 64.52% of the community’s votes.
