The Northbrook Park District looks forward to the upcoming opening of Heritage Oaks Golf Club, 3535 Dundee Road (formerly Sportsman’s Country Club) on August 16, 2021. Members of the community are invited to attend the Community Open House on Saturday, August 14 from 1pm-4pm for a preview of all this property has to offer. Stop in to tour the facility and enjoy technology demonstrations, a free raffle, giveaways and snacks.

Heritage Oaks Golf Club, with its tree-lined 27 holes of golf, practice range equipped with TrackMan technology, golf academy and indoor golf simulators, offers something for everyone. With the elevated Acorn Grill + Terrace overlooking the Audubon-certified courses, Heritage Oaks Golf Club welcomes you―for golf, for a meal, for a timeless experience.

Heritage Oaks Golf Club offers 27 holes of golf on the Classic 18 and Legacy 9 courses. Tee times reservations are now available seven days in advance for the Classic 18 and Legacy 9 courses at Heritage Oaks Golf Club. Visit heritageoaksgc.com to select your tee time. For those looking to walk a quick nine holes, the Northbrook Park District is also home to Anetsberger Golf Course, a par 3 course located in Techny Prairie Park & Fields.

During the spring and early summer growing seasons at Heritage Oaks, District staff have focused on the continued establishment of the newly seeded areas. This growing time was essential for root maturation to ensure the playability and durability of the rebuilt Classic 18 greens and other re-grassed areas including the Legacy 9 greens, tees, fairways and the practice range. These improvements will provide a quality playing experience for not only the initial season following these enhancements and renovations, but for many seasons to follow.

Renovations have been made to enhance the overall playing experience throughout the courses, practice range and practice areas:

  • Greens on the Classic 18 course were regraded and rebuilt with a 10-inch base of premium sand. The new 007 bentgrass greens will provide an exceptional putting surface throughout the season providing improved green speed and smoothness.
  • The addition of new tees will provide greater enjoyment of the game for players of all levels offering the challenge of hitting a variety of shots along with the added advantage of increased overall speed of play on the course. The Classic 18 offers five tee locations while the Legacy 9 now has six tees.
  • New drainage systems, including underground infrastructure improvements and the development of larger ponds, will allow the course to reopen more quickly after rain events. In addition, the rainwater is collected and reused for irrigation on the course, following the sustainability practices of the District.
  • The six-acre renovated outdoor practice range at Heritage Oaks Golf Club features TrackMan Range technology for tracking all your shots during practice, playing virtual golf on the range and engaging in interactive games. Range lighting allows for evening play.
  • The outdoor public practice facilities at Heritage Oaks Golf Club also include a 10,000 square foot putting green and a separate short game practice area featuring a greenside bunker.

    • The improvements at Heritage Oaks Golf Club extend indoors as well to the newly constructed Clubhouse. With golf-inspired architecture, stylish interiors and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the courses, this new facility features Acorn Grill + Terrace, a full-service restaurant and bar offering a lovely year-round public restaurant along with the Brook Room, a flexible indoor-outdoor rental space for private parties. With two indoor Full Swing Pro Series golf simulators located adjacent to the restaurant, guests can play courses virtually from around the world, or choose from a selection of popular sports contests on the big screens, while enjoying food and beverage service in a comfortable lounge area.

    The Golf Shop opens August 16 with a variety of top names in golf apparel, footwear and equipment. Choose from a variety of Heritage Oaks inaugural logo items, or make a selection from your favorite industry brand names.

    With improved play opportunities and a new community gathering space, Heritage Oaks Golf Club is sure to provide an enhanced golf, dining and recreational opportunity for the Northbrook community.
