Northbrook Park District Opens Fall Registration July 29

NORTHBROOK, IL — Northbrook Park District residents can begin registering July 29 for fall classes, sports and special events featured in the district’s newly released Autumn Guide.

Resident registration opens at 9 a.m. July 29, followed by nonresident registration at 9 a.m. Aug. 5. The guide is available online at nbparks.org and at park district facilities.

The fall schedule includes programs for children, adults and seniors, along with seasonal events running from September through December.

Sports And Recreation

Youth sports offerings include baseball, basketball, fencing, taekwondo, skateboarding, tennis, volleyball and soccer.

Adults can register for pickup basketball and soccer, softball, tennis and pickleball. Leagues are also available for multiple age groups.

Year-round options include ice sports at the Northbrook Sports Center, which has two NHL-sized rinks, and golf at Heritage Oaks Golf Club. The club offers indoor technology for practice during colder weather.

Community Center Programs

The renovated Northbrook Community Center, which reopened this summer, includes a new teaching kitchen for cooking classes.

The center also offers visual arts, theater, crafts and other programs for children through seniors.

Fall Events

Northbrook Brewfest, an event for adults 21 and older, is scheduled for Sept. 19 at Village Green Park. The Park District is hosting the event with the Village of Northbrook.

Autumnfest returns Oct. 3 at Meadowhill Park.

The second annual Fall Fishing Fest will be held Oct. 11 at Wood Oaks Green Park. Children of all experience levels can participate, with prizes planned for categories including biggest fish, smallest fish and most fish caught.

Halloween activities include the Halloween Pet Parade on Oct. 22 and the Halloween 3K Fun Run on Oct. 23.

The Turkey Shoot Free Throw Contest is scheduled for Nov. 20, giving participants a chance to win a Thanksgiving turkey.

Holiday Programs

The district will introduce a Chanukah cookie-decorating event Dec. 6.

Breakfast and lunch with Santa will be offered Dec. 12, followed by the Holiday Craft Fair on Dec. 19.
