The “Unplug Illinois” campaign was created six years ago by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association to encourage people to put aside technology and thoroughly enjoy play, creativity, adventure and time with friends and family without distractions. Research shows that unplugging from digital devices has numerous benefits for mental and physical well-being, including reducing stress, improving mood and enhancing creativity.

The park district’s pools are Meadowhill Aquatic Center, 1501 Maple Ave., and Northbrook Sports Center Pool, 1730 Pfingsten Road. To check whether the pools are open due to weather, visit the Field, Facility & Event Status page of nbparks.org. This event will not be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

The IPRA campaign aims to raise visibility and awareness of the environmental sustainability, wellness, and the economic impact park, recreation and conservation agencies have on the communities they serve.
