Northbrook Public Library: GBN Grad Wins Literature Award

It was an exciting day for Glenbrook North High School alum Christina Li! Her book, Ruby Lost and Found, was awarded the Asian Pacific American Award for Children's Literature at the ALA Youth Media Awards on Tuesday, January 22. Also announced at the ceremony were the winners of the 2024 Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, Newbery, Printz, and many other honors for youth and teen books.

After Christina Li’s first book, Clues to the Universe, was published in 2021, she spoke with Northbrook Public Library staff member Jane Huh about writing, Northbrook, libraries, and how finding Asian American representation in children’s books changed her life. Christina said she owed a lot of her success to Northbrook Public Library, and she even gave it a shout-out for its “amazing collection of books” in the acknowledgment section of her book. We look forward to Christina’s upcoming books, True Love and Other Impossible Odds, and her adult fiction debut, The Manor of Dreams, which will be available later this year.
