NORTHBROOK, IL — Seven college-bound students, who are currently employed in dining services at Covenant Living of Northbrook, were recently awarded $10,500 in grants-in-aid. Each student received a $1,500 grant, which were made possible through funding by proceeds from the senior living community's annual Holly Fair. Administration and anonymous resident donors also helped with funding, according to Covenant.

The students receiving grants include:

  • Peter Roy (University of Illinois-Chicago)
  • Angel Jaimes (Illinois State University)
  • Timothy Feng (University of Wisconsin-Madison)
  • Brenda Torres (Eastern Illinois University)
  • Luke Nelson (University of Michigan)
  • Cooper Kim (Colorado State University)
  • Alexander Gabriel (Iowa State University)

According to Covenant, recipients needed to have been employed there for at least six months, be enrolled in a college or technical school and have completed a grant application with an essay highlighting their hopes and their future career goals.
