Northbrook Sports Data Company to Add Major Piece
With upcoming purchase of Sports Network, Stats will have exclusive statistic distribution rights will all four major sports.
Stats, a Northbrook-based sports data giant has indicated plans to buy Sports Network, a Pennsylvania-based sports news wire service with a major presence with the the NHL and in Canada, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.
Sports Network is the official stat source and distribution partner of the NHL. The acquisition will add to Stats’ exclusive data distribution partnership with the NFL, NBA and Major League Baseball, among other leagues.
“The growing appetite for sports content, data and analytics continues to revolutionize the experience of sport in every arena for fans, teams and brands alike,” Stats CEO Gary Walrath said in a statement. “The combination of Stats and the Sports Network will expand our ability to meet the increasing demand for the creative use of sports data and analytics across different customer segments globally.”

Stats has around 375 employees worldwide, 170 of whom are in Northbrook.
