Northbrook Woman Killed In Motorcycle Crash Near Wauconda: Police

A 69-year-old Northbrook man, who was driving the Harley-Davidson, remains in critical condition following the Tuesday crash.

UNINCORPORATED WAUCONDA, IL — A 63-year-old Northbrook woman, who was a passenger on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was killed following a crash involving a car Tuesday afternoon in unincorporated Wauconda. The driver of the motorcycle — a 69-year-old Northbrook man — remains in critical condition, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Police said they were dispatched to Route 12 and Lake Shore Drive at around 1 p.m. for a traffic crash with injuries. Upon arrival, they found two people with critical injuries, according to a news release.

A preliminary crash investigation has revealed that a Ford Escort, driven by a 65-year-0ld Downers Grove woman, was stopped in the inside lane of southbound Route 12 due to a mechanical issue. A Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra Classic (three-wheeled motorcycle) was traveling southbound in the inside lane of Route 12.

Police say the driver of the motorcycle struck the Ford, causing the Harley-Davidson to roll several times. The driver and passenger were thrown from the motorcycle. Paramedics took the duo to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where the woman was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Ford and her passenger, a 67-year-old Naperville woman, were uninjured.
