Northbrook Won't Miss Its Joe Caputo Store
Local officials and residents say the ethnic foods grocer didn't cater to Northbrook residents.

Joe Caputo & Sons Fruit Market recently closed two locations in the north suburbs, one in Arlington Heights and the other in Northbrook.
At least in the latter case, locals are not shedding any tears.
Public officials and residents alike agree that the small grocery chain that specializes in ethnic foods and baked goods misunderstood the people they were trying to sell, according to the Northbrook Star.

“They never figured out the Northbrook market,” Northbrook Village Trustee James Karagianis said. “I tried shopping there several times and always left without something I wanted that they didn’t have… So that means I had to go someplace else to get it. And after that happens multiple times, I’m not going to go there, because I can’t get everything I need.”
Northbrook resident Marcy Just found the same problem at the store that closed its space at 4125 Dundee Road on October 18.
