Northbrook's Carroll Resigning From IL House Of Representatives

NORTHBROOK, IL — Illinois State Representative Jonathan Carroll (D-Northbrook) announced Friday he is resigning from the elected position at the conclusion of the day. The Democrat said last year he was not seeking reelection when his two-year term ends in November.

"Today, I will be resigning from the Illinois House of Representatives at 11:59 p.m.," Carroll said in a news release. "This is a very difficult decision, but in the best interest of my family for our physical health. Being a father is my most important job and my children's wellbeing is my most important responsibility."

Carroll, who was facing a primary challenge from attorney Tracy Katz Muhl this year, has been a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from the 57th district since first being elected in 2017. He won reelection for another two-year seat in November 2022.

The 57th District includes parts of Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Glencoe, Glenview, Mount Prospect, Northbrook, Northfield, Riverwoods, Wheeling, Wilmette, and Winnetka.
