Northbrook's Climate Action Plan Includes 2024 Spring Tree Giveaway
The annual giveaway includes a variety of oak trees native to the area, according to Village of Northbrook officials.
NORTHBROOK, IL — It's that time of year again to plants some trees in Northbrook. As part of its Climate Action Plan, the Village of Northbrook is hoping to increase the local tree canopy by offering tress for residents to plant on their private properties.
According to officials, native trees will be offered at no cost to Northbrook residents while supplies last. Those interested in receiving a native sapling to plant on their property can fill out this form.
The giveaway includes a variety of oak trees that are native to the area and are well-adapted to Northbrook's climate. The 2024 saplings include native Red Oak, Pin Oak, Swamp White Oak, Bur Oak and Black Oak.

Pickup will be available on from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at 1225 Cedar Lane, in the rear parking lot. Trees are currently 1 to 3 feet tall and come in one-gallon sized containers. Residents will be responsible for tree pickup, planting, and maintenance for this private property tree giveaway.
