Northbrook's Water Rate Up $73.44 Per Year, On Average
Residents can expect to see a water rate increase with their next quarterly bill.

Washing dishes, doing laundry and boiling pasta in Northbrook just got more expensive.
As of May 1, the village increased its water rate from $3.40 per 1,000 gallons of water to $4.08 per 1,000 gallons of water. That means the average customer’s bill will increase by $18.36 per quarter, or $73.44 per year, according to the village. Residents can expect to see the increase reflected in their next quarterly bill.
Water rates have remained the same since 2005, but according to the village, the rate increase is necessary due to the increased costs of chemicals used to treat water, replacement parts needed and the cost of personnel and capital improvements.

The village is currently building a new 1,000,000-gallon water tower in Northbrook’s Sky Harbor Business Park. The 145-foot tower is expected to provide relief to customers in central and western Northbrook, where water pressure can often be low, especially during the summer.
