NSYMCA Community Art Gallery features work from Judy & Rick Katz

All work is for sale and portion of the proceeds benefit the NSYMCA Visual Arts

Northbrook, IL: November 2023 – North Suburban YMCA’s Community Gallery is showcasing local artists Judy and Rick Katz, a husband-and-wife team, throughout the month of November. All of the work featured will be for sale with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Visual Arts department of the NSYMCA. A reception is being held for the Katz exhibit on Sunday, November 12th from 3:00-4:45pm at the NSYMCA located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook.

Judy Katz began her art studies after her 2002 retirement as a special education administrator. Judy’s Initial works of art included still life drawings and paintings created from montages and photographs. Judy refined her skills while taking a class where she developed a method of painting called “Painting in the Spirit of Nature.” Her use in acrylic inks helps illuminate the beauty of the natural environment. While serving as Artist in Residence in the Petrified National Forestin Arizona, Judy was inspired by the colors of the petrified trees and other natural environments.

Rick Katz a photographer for many years, began with a Brownie box-camera and eventually moved to the digital world where he focuses on parks (national, state, local and tribal), events and food images. Rick recently ventured into infrared photography where several images are taken using the infrared spectrum, which shifts the colors from the visible spectrum to colors not otherwise seen.
