The Grainger Family Foundation has generously provided the North Suburban YMCA with a grant of $5,000 to support its emergency preparedness systems. The Y’s facility usage and program participation has grown substantially, and safety recommendations dictated that the Y needed additional Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to ensure adequate response times in the event of a cardiac emergency.

The funds received from the Grainger Foundation will be used to purchase four new AEDs, along with carrying cases and spare pads, infant/child SMART pads cartridges, additional AED wall mount cabinets with alarm systems, additional AED service and maintenance agreements, emergency response kits , and AED wall signs.

“We are very thankful for the Grainger Foundation’s commitment to ensuring that our Y meets the recommended safety guidelines,” commented Debbie Madely, the North Suburban YMCA’s Development Director. “Our community’s safety is our main concern, and we will be well prepared should an emergency arise.”

"The YMCA's concern for the safety of all its members throughout our community inspired this donation," noted Gene O’Sullivan, Grainger Branch Manager. "Having the proper lifesaving equipment is essential for both children and adults to prevent unnecessary deaths. We are proud to be part of this ambitious emergency preparedness initiative that will make a difference in both the safety and quality of our community’s lives."
