On Oct. 15th at Five Seasons Northbrook: `The Dance to Save Lives’ Fundraiser

Club member touched by breast cancer raises awareness and funds to fight disease that strikes one in eight women

On Saturday, October 15th , a Cardio Funk dance class at Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Northbrook will do more than elevate heart rates—it’s the vehicle for a club member’s fundraising effort to fight breast cancer.

“The Dance to Save Lives,” from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., is spearheaded by Dina Donaldson of Glenview.

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and Donaldson has been touched by breast cancer in multiple ways: her cousin died of the disease, her mother is a survivor and her best friend has been battling breast cancer for the past two years.

“We want to celebrate the women who have survived, and fight for the ones that need us,” said Donaldson.

For a minimum donation of $25, anyone can participate in the session that will be led by Stacy Goldman at the club, 1300 Techny Road.

Space is limited, so individuals are asked to RSVP by texting 858-243-3110 with name, email address and phone number. Once a space has been confirmed, people can make their donation online or bring cash to the event. Participants are encouraged to wear pink.

Donaldson is raising the funds through Susan G. Komen, which is dedicated to education and research about the causes of and treatment for breast cancer, as well as a search for a cure.
