Office Depot to Close Waukegan Road Store

Deerfield Mayor Harriet Rosenthal was disappointed with the news but not shocked. She felt the combination of competition with Office Max across the street in Deerbrook and internet availability of office supplies were to blame.
“I’m not surprised,” Rosenthal said. “It’s very difficult for two competitive stores opposite each other to stay in business. It’s sad for Deerfield.”
Both Rosenthal and people affiliated with Deerbrook are taking action. Deerbrook told Patch last week that giving each location an outside entrance.
After plans were announced to turn the former Borders and the structure that housed George’s What’s Cooking into medical office buildings, Rosenthal asked Village Manager Kent Street to see what could be done to maintain Deerfield’s sales tax revenue. .
