Man Found Dead After Showing Gun To Cops On FaceTime: Northbrook PD

NORTHBROOK, IL — A resident was found dead in his Northbrook home following an early Monday morning barricade situation that included a FaceTime call with police in which he displayed a gun. Police activity in the area shut down traffic for several hours during the isolated incident, according to police.

At around 2:30 a.m., Northbrook police responded to the 2800 block of Dundee Road for a neighbor dispute, according to a news release. When officers arrived on the scene, they were told the man made suicidal statements and was possibly armed with a gun. Officers made contact with the man, via FaceTime, who displayed a firearm and barricaded himself inside his residence.

After several hours, the man ceased contact with police on scene. Officers were able to make entry, where they located the man deceased.

Due to the police activity, Dundee Road was closed between Landwehr Road to Pfingsten Road Monday morning. Northbrook police were advising motorists to avoid the area and find alternate routes. Police were calling this an isolated incident and said at around 9 a.m., "there is no threat to safety at this time."

"There is no active shooter incident taking place in Northbrook. The incident from this morning, resulting in a closure on Dundee Road, was isolated with no threat to public safety," police said in a social media post. "Again, there is not an active shooter in Northbrook."

In addition, Pfingsten Road was closed between Maria Avenue and Cherry Lane. Police said at around 9 a.m. that it had reopened, but Dundee is remaining closed for the investigation.
