Purses Pilfered During Park Play Time In Northbrook

Three purses were reported stolen Sunday from cars parked near Wood Oaks Green Park.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Three purses were reported stolen from cars parked at Wood Oaks Green Park in Northbrook on Sunday, with police told at least one of the owners was playing with their children in the park when someone burglarized their nearby vehicle. Police received the first report at 5:17 p.m. on Aug. 6. They were told a purse had been stolen from the rear floorboard of a parked car that had been parked for only about 15 minutes in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Sanders Road.

During that investigation, police found another burglarized vehicle in the parking lot about 10 minutes later. They found the car's owner who told police a purse that had been in the rear floorboard area of the vehicle had gone missing while its owner was in the park with children.

Northbrook police hadn't even finished writing up their report on the first two incidents when a third person came up to them around 6:27 p.m. and reported another car burglary. Another bag, this one described as a gray Michael Kors purse, was reported stolen from the vehicle's rear floorboard area. All three burglaries are thought to have occurred in a short period of time, according to police. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest news for Northbrook — or your community.
