Refrigerator Door Left Open After Garage Burglary: Cops

Multiple package thefts have been reported in Northbrook during recent weeks.

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

ATTEMPTED THEFT

A victim in the 2200 block of Scott Avenue reported that UPS delivered a package to their door at 7 p.m. on Dec. 22, A resident at the house went to the door and observed a man wearing a winter hat and scarf over his face pick up the package and open it. The offender had opened the package and was going through the contents when he saw her and dropped the package and fled.

THEFT

A victim in the 1800 block of Fieldwood Drive reported receiving a text message at 11 a.m. on Dec. 23 from FEDEX reporting they had delivered a package to the victim’s residence. The victim checked for the package at 2:30 p.m. and the package could not be located.

AUTO BURGLARY

A victim in the 2200 block of Maple Avenue reported that offenders entered his unlocked vehicle and used the garage opener to gain entry into the garage. The victim reported that he was asleep when heard the door open at 5:34 a.m. on Dec. 26. He looked outside and saw the interior dome light on inside of the vehicle but did not observe anyone outside his house. He reported that when he went downstairs he observed the refrigerator door in the garage standing open but nothing appeared to have been taken.

THEFT

A victim in the 200 block of Valencia reported on Dec. 26 that she was expecting a package delivery by the USPS. They informed her that the package had been delivered but the victim was unable to locate it. The estimated loss was $60.
