'Shedding Light On Mental Health': Memorial Fundraiser Unites Northbrook, Glenview Communities

The 3rd annual Taylor Brothers Memorial Fundraiser will benefit the National Alliance Of Mental Health (Cook County North Suburban).

NORTHBROOK, IL — Created in memory of two local brothers, the third annual Taylor Brothers Memorial Fundraiser is scheduled for later this month to benefit the National Alliance Of Mental Health (Cook County North Suburban). The fundraiser is intended to bring together the Northbrook and Glenview communities, according to organizers.

"This event is about coming together as a community to shed light on mental health," said Quentin Egan, event organizer and board member of NAMI CCNS. "We've seen how powerful it is when people show up for each other, and we want to keep creating spaces where conversations around mental health are welcomed, not whispered."

Egan is a lifelong Glenview resident and close friend of the Taylor family. Ross Taylor, a native of Glenview, passed away in 2017, and his brother, Trent, died in 2022.

"Mental health is a journey that touches us all, yet it’s often surrounded by stigma and misunderstanding. Trent and Ross Taylor faced their own mental health challenges with courage and resilience. Through it all, they remained beacons of light—never losing their humor, kindness, or love for those around them."

The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., includes a nine-hole golf outing at Anetsberger Golf Course in Northbrook, a community walk (at Techny Prairie Park in Northbrook) and a post-event banquet at The Shack (in Glenview) featuring golf simulators and a cash bar.

Over the past two years, the fundraiser has raised more than $40,000 to support free mental health programming provided by NAMI CCNS in Glenview, Northbrook, and the surrounding areas.

"We created this event to bring people together — not just to honor the Taylor brothers, but to spark real conversations about mental health," added Frank Flynn, fellow organizer and NAMI CCNS board member. "When our community unites like this, it sends a clear message: no one has to struggle in silence."
