State Rep. Biss Will Seek Schoenberg’s Senate Seat
After just one year in office, the Evanston Democrat will run for the seat Schoenberg held for 20 years.

Just two days after State Sen. Jeff Schoenberg said that he would not run for re-election, freshman State Rep. Daniel Biss announced he will seek Schoenberg’s 9th district seat.
In an e-mail message to supporters, the Democrat from Evanston said that he was motivated to run because he believes a Senate spot would give him the ability to effect change more quickly and more effectively.
“Moving to the Senate will allow me to have a bigger impact on the exact same issues I’ve been addressing in the House—fiscal policy, education, environmental policy and political reform,” Biss wrote in his e-mail.
