Stopped Freight Train Blocks Train Crossings In Northbrook: Village
Travelers were told to expect "extensive" delays both northbound and southbound due to the stoppage, according to Metra.
NORTHBROOK, IL — A stopped freight train was blocking the Dundee Road (near Dundee and Fair Lane) and Shermer Road (downtown) railroad crossings late Friday afternoon, according to the Village of Northbrook. Officials sent out an alert regarding the issue at around 3:30 p.m.
Metra confirmed the alert on X, saying it was caused by signal problems, and to expect "extensive delays."

Travelers were being asked to avoid these crossings if possible and seek alternate routes. At the time, said they did not have an estimate for when the train would resume movement.
