Tagal Wins Field Middle School Inaugural Spelling Bee In Northbrook

The winner moves on to next month's North Cook Regional Qualifier-Your North Cook Spelling Bee.

NORTHBROOK, IL — F-I-E-N-D-I-S-H-L-Y. That was the final word of the inaugural Stanley Field Middle School Spelling Bee, spelled correctly by winner Phoenix Tagal, at the Jan. 31 contest. Tagal was one of 12 students that qualified for the spelling bee.

The event was organized by Nisha Gandhi (8th grade math teacher), Dr. Duygu Kazkondu (6th
multilingual teacher), and Nancy Kim (ELA teacher).

According to West Northfield School District 31, Tagal moves on to next month's North Cook Regional Qualifier-Your North Cook Spelling Bee, scheduled for March 13 at Lincoln Hall Middle School in Lincolnwood. The top three contestants from that contest will represent North Cook County at the Regional Spelling Bee on March 26 at E.F. Lindop School in Broadview.

The participants in the Field Middle School Spelling Bee were: Saima Islam, Grace Kang, Amirah Kutty, Hafsa Makda, Phoenix Tagal, Nathan Park, Deen Qureshi, Summer Kang, Rachel Ly, Amin Nazrishoev, Anisha Sukhlecha, and James Vadakkumchery.
