Thieves Hit Unwatched Pants, Cash Register, Cars in Northbrook

2 cars burgled on same block, theives target retail locations and unwatched property: Northbrook Police

CAR BURGLARIES

Northbrook Police were investigating the theft of an iPad Pro and items of jewelry from a possibly unlocked 2014 Jeep on the 1500 block of Lake Cook Rd. when they discovered another burglary on the very same block. After checking with the owner, officers learned that a driver's license, photo ID, two credit cards and several items of clothing had been stolen from the second vehicle, a 2015 Jeep.

THEFT

Two employees told officers they were working in the back of a shop on the 1300 block of Shermer Rd. Friday when they heard the front door slam shut. When they checked, they did not find any customers, but they discovered $140 was missing from the cash register.

Friday morning, on the 1800 block of Janke Dr. employees discovered two bags of tools were stolen from company trucks.

Also Friday, after leaving his pants on the locker room floor during hockey practice, a victim reported $195 stolen from his wallet on the 2100 block of Founders.

Monday, a 47-year-old woman was arrested and charged with misdemeanor retail theft after employees at the Saks Off Fifth store on the 100 block of Skokie Hwy reported she had left the store without paying for two fur scarfs and a pair of shoes valued at about $400. Store security detained her in the parking lot until police arrived.

Tuesday, at the Neiman-Marcus store on the 1500 block of Lake Cook Rd, a 34-year-old man was arrested after allegedly leaving the store without paying for a Canada Goose Jacket valued at $850. He was arrested and charged with felony retail theft.
