NORTHBROOK, IL — Following recent vandalism to bathrooms at Village Green Park, the Northbrook Park District will be closing all restroom facilities early. The restrooms at Wood Oaks Green Park, Village Green Park, and Techny Prairie Park and Fields Warming Shelter will be locked for the day around 5/5:30 p.m. following the conclusion of supervised, scheduled events in the parks, according to a news release.

Officials said it is "very likely" the vandalism at Village Green Park is related to a new challenge circulating on social media, most notably on the Tik Tok platform. In the videos, youth are encouraged to engage in an escalating series of challenges including vandalism, stealing and overall disruption.

The Park District said it takes all incidents of vandalism in our parks and facilities "very seriously," and staff members work closely with the Northbrook Police Department when these types of incidents take place.
