Tommy Bahama Employee Accused in Gift Card Scam: Cops

DUI

Gregory J. Silverman, 45, of the 3800 block of Russett Court, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, speeding, driving with an expired registration, failure to signal and improper lane use after an April 11 traffic stop.

Police pulled over Silverman near Pfingsten Road and Cherry Lane after witnessing him make numerous traffic violations, according to the report. During the stop, officers suspected Silverman was under the influence, and he was taken into custody.

Silverman posted $1,000 bail, and his court date is May 16.

FELONY THEFT

Ryan P. Tucker, 30, of the 3400 block of Maple Leaf Drive, Glenview, was arrested and charged with felony theft after being accused of stealing almost $4,200 in merchandise from Tommy Bahama.

An in-store investigation discovered that Tucker, a store employee, allegedly kept $50 gift cards that were connected with transactions involving a store promotion, according to police. The store claims Tucker used the cards to buy items for himself online.

THEFT

A vintage adding machine, crystal lamp shade, lamps and tools estimated at $450 were reported stolen April 11 from a storage unit in the 300 block of Melvin Drive.
