Trustees to Approve Life Time Fitness Project

Plan is to override plan commission and pave way for proposed Skokie Boulevard development.

Trustees in Northbrook are expected to approve the Life Time Fitness-anchored project planned for 1000 Skokie Boulevard, the Northbrook Star reports. Last week, the board voted 6-1 to prepare documents for the 570,000 square-foot project to move forward and five of those trustees confirmed they will vote in favor of the project when it is up for a vote on December 8.

A 91,000 square-foot Life Time Fitness center will anchor the development, which will also include a 338-unit Finger Companies apartment building and a Children’s Learning Adventure day care/enrichment center that will take up 43,000 square-feet.

The land has been undeveloped for years. Proposals have been submitted - including ones including a Costco and Wal-Mart - but nothing approved.

Trustees James Karagianis and Bob Israel are the only trustees planning on voting against the project. The Plan Commission had previously voted 4-3 against moving the project forward.
