Two-Way Water System Proposed in Northbrook
Options presented for Huehl Rd. water tower.

A two-zone water system in Northbrook is closer than ever, the Northbrook Star reports.
Village Manager Rich Nahrstadt said that if the estimated $2.7 million project to allow a new water tower on Huehl Rd. to handle some of the west side and the old Cedar Lane tower handle the rest is put into motion, water mains of substandard steel in the 1950s and late 1940s would need to be replaced.
But another option could also be put into place.

“New figures are being worked up, but estimates from the spring of 2014 put the total cost at $6.7 million for a solution that finds just the northwest corner of town hooked up to the new tank and $47.3 million for a system that has most of town west of Pfingsten Road connected. The work would probably not be accomplished all at once,” the Star reported.
